Quick Questions and Answers:

What is Opration Smile?

Founded in 1982, Operation Smile is a worldwide children's medical charity dedicated to helping children and young adults born with facial deformities. In as little as 45 minutes, one cleft lip surgery can change a child's life forever.

Every three minutes a child somewhere in the world is born with a facial deformity. One in ten will not survive to see their first birthday. Those who do survive often live in isolation and pain. Each year, more than 100,000 children are born with a facial deformity in Operation Smile's 26 partner countries. Tens of thousands remain untreated. Click here for more information.

What are the PPA and PPA Charities?

PPA stands for Professional Photographers of America, and is one of the major professional photographer organization.

PPA Charities is the charitable branch of PPA.

How long is the mini-session?

One mini-session will last about 25 to 30 minutes. That includes about 10 to 15 minutes of photo-shoot. Then we’ll spend some time to review and choose the image(s) together.

Is the donation $24 for the whole family?

The donation is for an individual portrait session and a desk-size portrait. If you plan to get pictures for more than one person, make sure you mention it at booking time to allow enough time for the shoot.

Why are you asking $27.04 at registration and not $24?

$24 is the donation that will go fully to Operation Smile. In addition to that, the total amount includes $0.70 for the transaction cost (Paypal) and $2.34 for sales tax (9.5%)

Is the $24 donation tax deductible?

There are some restrictions when you receive something in exchange of your donation, so it’s better to discuss this issue with your CPA.

Can I buy more prints than the one included?

You are welcome to buy any image at almost any size with a 30% discount if ordered the same day. But it’s up to you!

I like what Operation Smile is doing too. Can I give more than $24?

Yes, Absolutely! Additional donation can be made in Cash, Check or Credit Card. But it’s really up to you. In addition, if you choose to buy additional print or digital image, you may decide to give the 30% discount to Operation Smile. Additional donation is not submitted to Sales tax and is tax deductible.

I’ve seen on the PPA Charities website that the event is advertised for the April 6th. Why are you doing this event on April 20th?

The 6th is the beginning of spring break for Lake Washington and Bellevue School Districts. We wanted to make sure to open this fundraising effort to as many people as possible.

I registered and paid but I realize I won’t be able to make it on the 20th of April. Will you reimburse me the cost of the session?

This is a donation to a charity, and I cannot reimburse you, I am sorry. However you’ll get a receipt for the donation and you may be able to treat that amountas a charitable contribution in your tax return. In addition, If you call to cancel before the event, I will also happily credit you with that amount toward a full portrait session.

Is there a difference between the print that is part of the promotion and a regular print?

I will use the same photo lab (Miller’s Lab) that I use for my regular orders, the one I consider as the best in the country for its stunning quality. However, regular prints come mounted on a thin board to ensure rigidity and a UV coating to protect from the effects of light and fingerprints.

Will I get the digital image (JPG file)?

The digital images (and the right to use and print the image) will be available for sale, at a 30% discount price also.

When will I receive the print?

It’ll take about two to three weeks to process your image(s), and get them printed. You’ll receive an email when they’ll be ready to pick up at Roos Orthodontics office.
